Hi all, Well I have the capture, conversion, & editing pretty much figured out...so now it is time to get a bigger drive. I purchased an 80gb 7200rpm WD w/8mb buffer. I want to use it exclusively for capture, editing, etc. However I already have a 40 gig as my master.
Will it hurt performance to install it as a slave?
Do transfer Virtualdub & TMPGE to the new drive?
Needs some help, thanks

Make sure you install DMA drivers for your harddrives (e.g., Via4in1 drivers if you have a VIA Athlon motherboard). Having the DMA on will double your HD capture performance.
Keep the 40 gig (master) for your system files and for your encoding apps. Keep the 80 gig (slave) just for video files. RAID HD setups is unnecessary with current 7200 rpm UDMA harddrives.
It would also be a good idea to backup your system HD with Ghost.
