  1. Someone on another forum made reference to an uncompressed ToS version and i was able to track it down on Xiph:

    https://media.xiph.org/tearsofsteel/

But there are some things very confusing about this file.

The claim is that it is uncompressed YUV420 and supposedly lossless relative to the source,

But I don't see how this can be.

According to the people that made ToS, they used the 16-bit TIFFS to make the 4k DCP file which is 12-bit XYZ JPEG2000 but from what I can find it seems the Y4M doesn't come from the Blender people, it comes from Xiph.

What was the source for this Y4M and why is it claimed to be lossless?

If the Xiph people made it from the TIFF files, then this is losing a lot of information, 16-bit to 8bit and RGB to YUV420, so this must be lower quality than the 4k DCP.

    What am i missing?

Ask for the source files, you can then build it yourself.

Thank you for the link however it says that I need to sign up for 11.50 Euros a month in order to download the content.

I could always download the tiffs for free from Xiph and encode them to a lossless.

I was wondering about the Y4M file that is currently available.
