How to download M6 FRANCE (6play) shows in HD despite DRM restrictions ?

Hello everyone,

We hope we are not bothering you with this request. We are a group of bakers, pastry chefs, cooks, and chocolatiers, both in France and abroad. We have no knowledge of computing or technology (or almost none!), but we are trying to understand how to download shows from M6 Replay (6play) without facing the issues we currently have.

Our goal is to save shows like La Meilleure Boulangerie de France in HD quality, so we can watch them when we have free time. We have seen that some shows are available on YGG, but unfortunately, nobody has uploaded the 2025 season yet, which is currently being aired.

There will be around 125 episodes for this 2025 season, which started in January and will continue until late June or possibly early July.

We have tried many solutions (OBS Studio, Captvty, Video DownloadHelper, JDownloader…), but we always encounter the same problems:

• The screen is black (OBS)
• The show cannot be downloaded due to DRM protections (Captvty, JDownloader)
• The video is unwatchable, full of colorful mosaics, and only the audio works (Video DownloadHelper)

We also followed advice from a user who suggested using calmatv.ru, but this does not work for us because we cannot be in front of the computer when the show is airing – we are working at that time.

Our questions:

1. How do people manage to download these shows without any issues?
2. Is there a simple solution, even for people who know nothing about computing?
3. If someone knows an effective method, could they please explain it step by step, with a clear tutorial?

We are very grateful to anyone who takes the time to help us. We know this is not easy, and we do not want to waste anyone’s time. We just want to find a way to do it ourselves, with explanations that are suitable for absolute beginners.

Nous n’avons aucune connaissance en informatique (ou presque !), mais nous essayons de comprendre comment télécharger des émissions depuis M6 Replay (6play) sans rencontrer les problèmes que nous avons actuellement.

1. Comment font les gens qui arrivent à télécharger ces émissions sans problème ?
2. Existe-t-il une solution simple, même pour des personnes qui n’y connaissent rien en informatique ?
3. Si quelqu’un connaît une méthode efficace, pourrait-il nous expliquer pas à pas avec un tutoriel clair ?

Nous sommes très reconnaissants envers ceux qui prendront le temps de nous aider. Nous savons que ce n’est pas simple et nous ne voulons absolument pas abuser du temps de la communauté. Nous cherchons juste une manière de faire nous-mêmes, avec des explications adaptées à des débutants complets.

You don't need to have IT knowledge when it's about widevine DRM. You install the addon, play the video you want, then the addon generates a N_m3u8DL-RE command, you copy the command and run it.

N_m3u8DL-RE is another program that you need installed. It does the downloading + decryption part. When you have everything set up, it's just a bunch of clicks then.

I started trying to install Widevineproxy 2 last Monday.

I don’t think I made a mistake during the initial steps, but after that, I’m stuck — I don’t know what to do next. When I click on "Choose a file", what exactly should I select, and what type of file is expected? I don’t understand the instruction: "select your Widevine device file".

When I click on my widevineproxy2 folder, it only contains folders with no files inside.

My goal is to download videos from the M6 website: https://www.m6.fr/la-meilleure-boulangerie-de-france-p_2944 — so not onto my PC directly. I think I misunderstood something.

Je ne pense pas m'être trompée, en revanche après, je suis coincée, je ne vois pas quoi faire. Quand je clique sur choisir un fichier, je choisis quoi et quel type ? Je ne comprends pas : et sélectionnez votre fichier d'appareil Widevine.
Quand je clique sur mon dossier widevineproxy2, il n'y a que des dossiers sans fichier dedans.

It has only wvd files. Extract it. Click "chosir un ficher" and select one wvd files from the ones you extracted. Then check the "enable" button on the addon, refresh page, and play the video.

I downloaded the ZIP file as you recommended, extracted everything, and selected the first WVD file I found (3092696737) out of the 115 in the folder.

However, I’m not sure where to find the “Activate” button for the add-on. I’ve attached a screenshot showing the WVD file I selected.

Once I refresh the page, you mention playing a video — could you please clarify which one and how exactly? Should I try playing an episode of La Meilleure Boulangerie de France, or is it unrelated?

Also, how can I download the episodes one by one? Or are there still some steps I might have missed?

J’ai téléchargé le fichier ZIP comme vous l’avez recommandé, j’ai tout extrait, puis j’ai sélectionné le premier fichier WVD que j’ai trouvé (3092696737), parmi les 115 présents dans le dossier.

En revanche, je ne sais pas où trouver le bouton “Activer” pour le module complémentaire. J’ai joint une capture d’écran montrant le fichier WVD que j’ai choisi.

Une fois la page actualisée, vous mentionnez qu’il faut lire une vidéo — pourriez-vous préciser laquelle et comment faire exactement ? Dois-je lancer un épisode de La Meilleure Boulangerie de France, ou est-ce autre chose ?

Par ailleurs, comment faire pour récupérer les épisodes un par un ? Ou bien ai-je encore manqué certaines étapes ?

Top left corner, there an "Enabled' text. Click on the small white square. Refresh page, click play on video. You get download command in the keys section, the one at bottom.

I went to the La Meilleure Boulangerie de France page on M6 and tried to download an episode. I turned off my VPN and ad blocker.

The advertisement that starts stops playing as soon as I click on the WidevineProxy2 icon, and I also clicked on “clear,” but nothing happens.

Are there any specific actions I need to take with Executable name: N_m3u8DL-RE or Export logs?

Don't click on clear, it will delete the download command. When you see it appear, copy it, open cmd where you have N_m3u8DL-RE installed, paste it there and press enter, and the download starts.

I'm following up because I can't find the famous N_m3u8DL-RE on my computer. I thought it had been installed along with WidevineProxy2.

Where exactly is it located, and how can I get it? I only downloaded WidevineProxy2, as mentioned earlier. I selected the first WVD file I found (3092696737), as noted below.

I found this link: b.com/nilaoda/N_m3u8DL-RE/releases, but I honestly have no idea how to download the file or folder (it’s all Chinese to me &#128517, and the page is actually written in Chinese.

Is there a step-by-step tutorial with pictures on how to install all these tools and successfully download videos from M6 Replay?

pour utiliser ces logiciels vous devez ouvrir une fenêtre de terminal (sur Windows : touche Windows du clavier + R puis taper "cmd"). Depuis cette fenêtre, avec la commande "cd l'adresse du dossier où vous avez téléchargé N_m3u8DL-RE", vous devez vous rendre dans le dossier où vous avez téléchargé les logiciels pré-cités. Après avoir saisi la commande N_m3u8DL-RE fournit par l'extension Widevineproxy2, le fichier téléchargé se trouvera dans le même dossier que le logiciel.

Ou plus simple, demandez à quelqu'un parmi votre groupe qui connait un peu l'informatique .

I asked the only person I know who has some knowledge of computers to help me, but they refused, saying it was immoral and illegal to download this kind of content... So I’m left to figure it out on my own, and as you can see, my knowledge is very limited. My other colleagues know even less than I do.

I believe I managed to extract the files, but when I click on N_m3u8DL-RE.exe, a blue window pops up saying that Windows is protecting my PC (see attached screenshot).

What should I do? Is it dangerous? Did I click on the right file?

J’ai demandé de l’aide à la seule personne que je connaisse qui s’y connaît un peu en informatique, mais elle a refusé sous prétexte que c’était immoral et illégal de télécharger ce genre de contenu… Bref, je dois me débrouiller seule, et comme vous pouvez le constater, mes connaissances sont très limitées. Mes autres collègues sont encore moins à l’aise que moi avec ce genre de choses.

Je pense avoir réussi à extraire les fichiers, mais lorsque je clique sur N_m3u8DL-RE.exe, une fenêtre bleue s’ouvre avec un message indiquant que Windows protège mon PC (voir pièce jointe).

Grace aux réponses que tu as eu, j'ai pu installer et télécharger ce qu'il fallait.
Comme je suis Français comme toi, je vais t'expliquer, je pense que ca sera plus claire

Dans un 1er temps, tu fais comme 2nHxWW6GkN1l916N3ayz8HQoi l'a dit, c'est à dire télécharger l'extension chrome WidevineProxy2
C'est cette extension qui permet de récupérer le lien et la clé de déchiffrement (on va dire, c'est pour rester simple)

Et tu télécharges le fichier zip "WidevineProxy2_v0.8.2.zip"
Tu extrais l'archive zip (avec 7zip ou winrar) vers un dossier, par exemple "WidevineProxy2_v0.8.2"

Ensuite tu ouvres chrome, dans la barre d'adresse tu tapes "chrome://extensions/" et tu cliques sur "Charger l'extension non empaquetée"
Tu choisis le dossier précédemment extrait, donc "WidevineProxy2_v0.8.2"

Normalement en haut à droite tu auras donc l'extension WidevineProxy2 installé.
Maintenant il faut la configurer.
Pour ca, tu l'ouvres, et tu l'active en cochant "Enabled". Attention, une fois activée, plus aucune vidéo sur les sites ne fonctionnera. C'est normal. Mais si tu veux retrouver un fonctionnement normal des sites de streaming, il faudra décocher "Enabled"
Ensuite dans Device Type tu laisses Widevine Device
Dans Widevine Device, il va falloir charger un fichier de config. C'est ce qui va simuler le fait que tu regardes la vidéo sur un périphérique certifié.
Tu télécharges ce fichier zip : https://files.videohelp.com/u/303646/CDMs.zip
Tu l'extraits, et la tu vas avoir un dossier contenant 115 fichiers .wvd. Chaque fichier représente 1 périphérique simulé. Pas d'inquiétude, il en suffit d'un !
Tu retournes dans WidevineProxy2 -> Widevine Device -> Choose File -> Choisir un fichier -> Tu parcours ton PC et tu prends n'importe quel fichier .wvd.
Maintenant tu auras une ligne du type "[L3] Google AOSP on IA Emulator sdk_gphone_x86"

Tu laisses la case cochée "Use Shaka Packager". Nous allons l'installer.
C'est terminé pour la config de l'extension.
Pour rappel, elle permet simplement de récupérer "l'url de téléchargement chiffré de la vidéo".

Maintenant nous allons installer les 2/3 softs qui vont nous permettre de télécharger la vidéo.

Il faut extraire cette archive dans un dossier, par exemple "DRM"
Dans cette archive, il y'a tous les softs (ffmpeg, mkvmerge, yt-dlp, et le fameux N_m3u8DL-RE).
Il en manque un, "packager-win-x64" qu'il faut télécharger ici : https://github.com/shaka-project/shaka-packager/releases
Il faut cliquer sur "Show all 14 assets" et choisir "packager-win-x64.exe"
Ensuite il faut le placer dans le dossier DRM, au même endroit que N_m3u8DL-RE par exemple.

Bon, on a fait le plus dur, l'installation est terminée.

Pour télécharger, il faut ouvrir une fenetre de commande en mode admin.
Dans la barre de recherche windows, il faut taper "cmd", puis clique droit sur "Invite de commandes" -> Exécuter en tant qu'admin
Ensuite nous allons nous déplacer dans le dossier DRM avec une ligne de commande.
Par exemple si le dossier est dans C:\Users\Users\Downloads\DRM, il faudra taper la commande : cd "C:\Users\Users\Downloads\DRM"
On valide la commande en tapant sur la touche "Entrer"

Une fois dans le bon dossier, nous laissons la fenetre de commande d'un coté, et nous allons sur le site d'M6+ dans notre cas.
Nous lancons la vidéo, et il va y avoir une erreur de lecture (ce qui est normal, c'est l'extension WidevineProxy2 qui bloque car elle intercepte le flux avant).
On lance l'extension WidevineProxy2 et dans Keys en bas, on va trouver la commande à taper.
Il faut cliquer sur le petit "+" à gauche et copier l'intégralité du champ CMD qui commence par N_m3u8DL-RE.............

Ensuite on retourne dans notre fenetre de commande, et on colle la commande (avec un clic droit, ou un CTRL+V)
On valide la commande en tapant sur la touche "Entrer"

La le script se lance, et nous indique toutes les qualitées vidéos et audios disponible.
Il faut naviguer avec les fleches du clavier (haut et bas), et cocher les qualités avec la touche "espace".
En général, on prendra la meilleure qualité vidéo et audio, qui se trouve toujours en haut.
Une fois la qualité vidéo et audio cochées, il suffit de nouveau d'appuyer sur la touche "Entrer" et le téléchargement se lance.
La vidéo aura un format xxxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx.mkv. Quand elle est terminée de télécharger, on peut l'a renommé comme on veut
Elle apparait dans le dossier "DRM".

Extract the zip (with 7zip or WinRAR) to a folder, for example, "WidevineProxy2_v0.8.2"

Then open Chrome, type "chrome://extensions/" in the address bar, and click "Load unpacked extension."
Choose the previously extracted folder, so "WidevineProxy2_v0.8.2"

Normally, in the top right corner, you'll have the WidevineProxy2 extension installed.
Now you need to configure it.
To do this, open it and enable it by checking "Enabled." Be careful, once enabled, no videos on the sites will work. This is normal. But if you want streaming sites to function normally, you'll need to uncheck "Enabled."
Then, keep Widevine Device in Device Type.
In Widevine Device, you'll need to load a configuration file. This will simulate the fact that you're watching the video on a certified device.

In the Windows search bar, type "cmd", then right-click on "Command Prompt" -> Run as admin.
Next, we'll navigate to the DRM folder using a command line.
For example, if the folder is located in C:\Users\Users\Downloads\DRM, we'll type the command: cd "C:\Users\Users\Downloads\DRM"
Confirm the command by pressing "Enter."

Once in the correct folder, we leave the command window to one side and go to the M6+ website in our case.
We launch the video, and there will be a play error (which is normal; it's the WidevineProxy2 extension that's blocking it because it's intercepting the stream beforehand).
We launch the WidevineProxy2 extension and in Keys at the bottom, we'll find the command to type.
Click on the small "+" on the left and copy the entire CMD field, which begins with N_m3u8DL-RE.............

Then we return to our command window and paste the command (with a right click or CTRL+V).
Confirm the command by pressing "Enter."

The script launches and shows us all the available video and audio qualities.
Navigate with the keyboard arrows (up and down), and select the qualities with the "space" key.
Generally, we'll use the best video and audio quality, which is always at the top.
Once the video and audio quality are selected, simply press "Enter" again and the download will begin.
The video will be in the format xxxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx.mkv. When it's finished downloading, we can rename it however we like
It appears in the "DRM" folder.

Salut merci pour toute tes explications, je cherche aussi à télécharger des vidéos de M6 cependant je bloque au moment d’entrer le lien CMD dans le terminal. J’ai bien mis tout les fichiers «*DRM*» ( N_m3u8DL-RE, ffmpeg, etc ..) dans un seul et même dossier, et je suis dans le bon dossier dans le terminal. Et donc quand je colle le lien «*cmd*» de WidevineProxy ça met le message «*la commande N_m3u8DL-RE est introuvable, mais elle existe à l’emplacement actuel etc..*» cela veut dire que N_m3u8DL-RE n’est pas «*installé*» ? Pourrais tu m’éclairer ? Merci d’avance !

Pas de soucis. L'erreur c'est parce que tu utilises powershell aulieu de cmd (invite de commandes)
Si tu veux garder powershell, tu peux faire comme la dernière ligne te l'indique, c'est a dire ajouter ".\" au début de la commande

English :
No worries. The error is because you're using PowerShell instead of CMD (command prompt).
If you want to keep PowerShell, you can do as the last line indicates, add ".\" to the beginning of the command
