  1. I just got a Pioneer 104 DVD-R and burned a DVD-R using the generic silver media that ESBuy provided. It plays fine on my computer but my Apex 1500 says 'no disc'. I'm surprised since my Apex plays almost everything.

    Suggestions?

  2. Go with the normal high quality DVD-R's; Pioneer, Apple, Verbatim and TDK. To get a high quality 2X DVD-R, you have to shell out $5 per disk. Cheaper disks are a hit or miss.

  3. I tried SmartDisk DVD-R from CompUSA - 5 for $20 - they are slightly darker purple and have a white instead of silver face. Works perfectly! Not only that but it was recognized as a branded disc so I got a 2x burn.

Smartdisc? I'll have to try those. Slightly cheaper then the Apples.

I tried a generic $2 disc in my bro's Apex 1500 and it woulden't play it (though it would display the menu), but a double sided cdrecordable disc played fine.
