GE 1401 plays mp3's and audio cdr but not vcd on cdr....HELP

I have a Ge dvd player that plays cdr with audio, and mp3's, but will not read my vcd's on cdr (it gives a no disc error message). Does it make sense that it will play the audio and mp3's but not read the vcd's i have burned? Or, is this a case where the vcd playing is going to be cdr sensitive even though it will read the audio and mp3's?
