Well the answer to your question is written right in the guides.

Use vcdgear to convert the dats to mpgs. Use TMPGenc to join the mpgs. VCDCutter will do better job of joining but its not free, so TMPGenc is the best free tool for the job.

You can't change filesize without re-encoding. If you want to squeeze those mpgs onto a single 80 min cdr then get a bitrate calculator from the tools section and it will tell you what bitrate to use.

  3. As above, use VCDGear to convert back to standard MPEG first.

I'm generally against joining MPEG files and I don't believe that there is a place for it. Rather than joining it, why not just put both MPEGs as separate tracks on a VCD?

Although the gap between the two mpegs will be larger if you use two separate tracks, the result in joining them can often be that there is an audio blip -- or perhaps even A/V sync problems.

As for the size of your files, you will not be able to put them on one 80 min CD without re-encoding to a lower bitrate (losing quality significantly and probably making your discs non-compliant).

You may be able to fit both on a VCD if you use 90/99 min media, however.

    Regards.
