  1. I know from googling all of this streaming DRM started w/ CDRM Project who supposedly had all tools and a guide. That site is long gone. And all I can see here is about dumping some files from Android named after Indiana Jones movies that's makes no sense to me.

What tools do people need to download these encrypted videos? How do they get the keys etc. Surely someone could put together a guide.

cdrm didnt start anything. Its new this year. also not hard to replicate.

You can find all info you need in the pins of this forum.
    I help all that ask.

  3. CDRM project absolutely did not start anything. Bypassing DRM has been a thing since DRM was a thing. CDRM just made it easily accessible and possible for beginners to decrypt streams from basic streaming services. The site is down now, but is supposedly getting back up in the coming days.

Everything you need to know is in this forum if you're willing to not be lazy about it. The Indiana Jones references in the pinned threads are not helpful, I agree. Most new people here are seemingly young, non-English natives who have no clue what those titles represent. The info inside is pretty good, though. You should give them a read.

I think the general philosophy around this forum is that people are more than willing to guide, but draw the line at excessive hand holding. Show that you've done some work on your own and the more experienced users will gladly help you when you're stuck.

Shame. I did consider 'Harry Potter and the Muddled Muggles' or 'Miley Cyrus sings Content Decryption for You' but in the end, since it was an English speaking forum I thought users could be expected to cope with my foibles. It made me chuckle - but I am easily pleased.

I literally could not understand why you would say like this.
Actually I, on behalf of myself, have learned a lot from Angela's posts. And I really wanna say a huge thank you to Angela, her explanations in the posts are really easy to understand, especially when I have managed getting the keys using Python scripts.

You may find these posts unhelpful maybe because you couldn't duplicate under the posts' guidance or maybe you have other ways to get the keys. But in my humble opinions, please always be grateful to those contributors, which is also a virtue in the Chinese culture.

P.S. I have to apologize for not reading the whole thread and misunderstood our friends. I hope it won't hurt your feelings... I'm really sorry.

If you really want to speak to the younger crowd, you'd have to show the decryption process in Tiktok videos short enough to not challenge their attention span while a monotonous AI voice is reading the text for them and you're doing a little dance in the background. I think we'd all like to see that

No, but I get it. It's just one of those things that gets easily lost in translation.

    @CrymanChen:

I was referring to the titles of the posts, not the content inside. And the fact that you misunderstood what I wrote just kind proves my point. We're all from very different parts of the world, so clarity is important.

    Now tik-tok? There's a thought I wonder if i could? Do they accept pre-boomers?

Cultural references are always difficult in foreign language learning; you may not believe it, but I did consider the issue. But my sense of humour - clearly not to your liking prevailed.

@crymanchen stabbedbybrick is one of the good guys here; as indeed you, yourself are. You only responded to a partial quote.

  9. I am not lazy just don't have the time to spend trying to figure out step 1. I get an idea about the other steps but still trying to figure out how to even start. It's a bit convoluted and goes beyond "holding someone's hand". The whole forum is a mess.

It's not rocket science to make a single, easy, simple guide. Not everyone has the time to go reading through dozens of posts and replies to figure out what to do.

Back when this site started as vcdhelp (before name change) it was orderly w/ guides. This particular forum (video streaming) is far from it. That's how you guys like it have fun but it's not for me.

Why do you think anyone would do that when everyone has their own time problems.

Ah, the classic "not everyone has the time" nonsense. Implying that those that know something you don't only do so because they have nothing better to do, right?
And then claiming that "It's not rocket science to make a single, easy, simple guide" when you yourself don't even understand the subject.

This subject matter is illegal and this forum is very public. Having a paint-by-numbers guide for toddlers among the first google results benefits no one in the end.

  14. TubeBar: I was able to with a great deal of help decrypt some videos via CDRM. If you read this thread you will see that posters here at Videohelp were quite kind and showed me the steps to get master manifest, PSSH and the license information you use with the CDRM Project. But also there are times when TV series and some movies are not encrypted and you just have to have some code where you drop in the master manifest between some quotation marks. Here is a link to that thread in the event it is of use to you:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/410007-N_m3u8DL-RE-Giving-It-A-Try

Of course I have much more to learn and one must practice to keep up the skills you need. CDRM project may be back but one should try to grasp how to get the keys oneself and I am certainly not to that level yet.
