Hello guys (been a while) hope everyone is doing good.
So the issue is i got some video files recorded with a sony A7IV camera, and when i load them on vegas 13 i only get sound but no video,
the video appears green on vegas, now, i have tried to rename this "coumpodplug.dll" but it doesn't work... my best guess is there's some kind of codec causing an issue.
The laptop i work on:
i7 2.5ghz 4710HQ
16GB ram
nvidia geforce 840M
On this laptop VLC can't play the videos and MPC can barely handle them... now check this, i have a desktop as well:
intel core duo 6600 2.4ghz
8gb ram
nvidia geforce gtx 570 - 4gb
I don't do any editing on this machine but the video files play great on both VLC and MPC, so WTH????!!!!!!
I did some research on the web but didn't find anything related to my issue, so hopefully some of you could shed some light on the matter, my vegas version 13, built 310, 64bits.

4:2:2 and/or 10 bit avc is probably the problem. Not many decoders, especially hardware decoders, support that.

also could be vegas 13 is just too old to support it, especially if it isn't vegas pro. it's fairly ancient at about 10 years old. it was still a sony product back then.

If it's the MXF container that Vegas doesn't like you can try a quick remux to mov with ffmpeg:
If it's 4:2:2 and 10 bits Vegas doesn't like you can reencode as 8 bit 4:2:0:Code:ffmpeg -i xavc.mxf -c copy output.mov
Use a lower crf value for higher quality (bigger files), higher crf values for lower quality (smaller files). crf 10 is very high quality, better than your typical Blu-ray. Of course this will lose some quality from the reencoding and conversion to 4:2:0 and 8 bits. Audio will be encoded as aac. If you want to retain the original audio you have to use mov instead of mp4:Code:ffmpeg -i xavc.mxf -pix_fmt yuv420p -crf 10 avc.mp4
Code:ffmpeg -i xavc.mxf -pix_fmt yuv420p -crf 10 -c:a copy avc.mov
