TmpgEnc and Mpeg2 and Windows XP

I have a question,
I am running WindowsXP Pro, ATI AIW Radeon and I capture to Mpeg2 using that card. When I try to open that Mpeg2 ( after changing the ext to mpg or even mpeg from mpeg2) I get an error claiming that it can not open the file & then TmpgEnc crashes
Any idea why this would happen?

I cannot sure since I never need to open mpeg2 in TMPGEnc, but I think it cannot open mpeg2 without a plug-in. Or why else would there be a plug-in for this? Check the Tools section (link is on the menu to the left) and there TMPGEnc MPEG2 Plugin under Video Encoders. Good luck

You need mpeg2 decoder. Go to tools and download the MPEG2Codec under Codecs section.

are you sure , that you have everything installed (codecs), i am running winxp pro . i havent got any problems opening any mpg2 files, im also using the latest tmpgenc .
