ati aiw 128 won't load tv

I have a ati aiw 128 (not pro) and would love to get mpeg1 or mpeg2 captures ( to save space ). I had mmc 6.X on win98 first edition. I have loaded win98se and it hangs when I try to set the TV up on channel scan. I have downloaded the latest video drivers for this card. I have also tried mmc 7.5. It gives me everything but the TV. I have loaded mmc7.5 on my friends system with winXP and ati aiw 128pro and it works wonderful.

What would be good settings for mmc6.x to get more out of my 60 gig harddrive. Final output would need to fit about a half hour on a cd that will play on a dvd player. I like to work on several videos at a time so space is being a problem.

Sorry, it's a dual p3 650 dual boot of NT and 98. 512 meg ram. Ibm ata66 7200 harddrive. tyan thunder mobo.
