  1. Hello people.
    Im sorry if I am posting this question in the wrong forum but I am a new member, so please forgive me :D .

    I have managed to find a couple of filmson avi that will not play at all. I have other avi files that will play perfectly fine, but these two that I have just wont play at all.

    I have tried to play them with Windows Media Player, DivX Player 2 Alpha and RealOne player.

    Every time I try to play them with Win Media Player, it downloads a certain codec (the same one every time), but it still cannot play the avi. Surprisingly the DivX Player 2 Alpha program will not open the avi at all, and the RealOne player only plays the sound.

    Please help me out here.
    Yours,
    Beev

    have you tried downloading the codecs from this site?
    Nimo is a good place to start.
    the other thing you can try is to open the file in VirtualDub, and under
    file-->file information
    that should tell you the codec you need.
    otherwise, uninstall your Divx codecs, then install 3.11 alpha, and if need be, 4 and 5--but when you're given the option to let them handle Divx 3.11 files, refuse.

    try right clicking on the file, and go to properties, and look at the summary tab. otherwise, get VDub--it's freeware anyway

  5. Thanks for the info. I got Nimo and it seems to have sorted everything out.

    Where can I download VDub?

    Thanks again.
