  1. I'm lazy. When I convert interlaced signals to SVCD, I usually just do "Even only" in TMPGEnc and I'm very satisfied with the results.

What are the disadvantages to doing this? I think DVD2SVCD should offer such an option....

    Thanks,

  2. What do you mean by when I convert interlaced signals to SVCD. SVCD can handle interlaced signals, and deinterlacing means to blend the odd and even fields into one frame. You cant deinterlace just the even fields.

  3. Umm... when you use "Even only" you lose half the lines of resolution "blend" is better.
I prefer the smart deinterlacers in vdub, "smart deinterlace" and "deinterlace area based".
I understand decomb is very good if you use avisynth.

  4. I know SVCD can handle interlaced, the problem is that interlaced always looks crappy on my equipment.

To my eye, blend and even/odd look about the same and blend takes longer because there's some computation required.
