  2. if you get encrypted blocks, then the ripping did not go well, i suggest you try getting a newer release of smart ripper, or try using a diffrent program, such as CladDVD, DVD Decryptor.

  3. smartripper ver 2.34
i think there has to be some other reason

  4. Well, another reason I can think of, is that the Decrypt VOB in the Settings has been selected to not check for the Key, try checking that out, and again, try using another Ripper, such as CladDVD.

  5. I think I had this problem too. Try adjusting the size of the video when you encode it. For svcd, try 480 X 480 (with 29.97 frame rate), or 480 X 576 (with 25 fps). just try encoding it for a few seconds then see what it looks like. Not sure this is what you're asking. Also keep in mind that I am very much a newbie (what a dumb term) at this.

  6. woah, woah, woah. I just re-read my post. you're going from dvd to vcd. encrypting rather than encoding. okay, my above post was useless. I get confused easily. I not smart.

  8. yep I tried that Decrypt VOB in the Settings has been selected to check for the Key, might have to use another
    ripper I think.

  9. Which movie is it you are trying to rip that gives you so much trouble ? it's rare to find a movie that does not get decrypted properly by Smart Ripper, I also have Sector Extractor which at those times makes the best job of ripping, however, it's more manual.

  10. hi Sefy I am trying to backup The Matrix. I went ahead and
ripped it with smartripper anyway with encrypted blocks and
all. Used DVD2AVI and then used TMPGEnc, I encoded using
SVCD format. Burnt to Nero Burning Room last night and all
3 SVCD's work great!!!with great sound and all. Even with the enrypted blocks it still works great, could it be my DVD Rom?? It's a Aopen DVD-1240 12X it goes great maybe it is something in the firmware that causes it to do funny things in smartripper. I have the latest firmware in it. I will try another DVD today and post my results.

  11. I've had no problems with the Matrix, and back then, I used the old (but still good) VobDECGUI.

Perhaps (speculation) SmartRipper is having trouble with the multiangles/seamless branching in The Matrix. You could try using DVD Decrypter (if you already have the newest version of SmartRipper) or one of the other rippers (even the venerable VobDECGUI).

  12. I have never tried ripping the Matrix as i'm not a big fan (and that's an understatment!) of the movie, but i'veh ad Multiangel movies before and Samrt Ripper had no problems ripping them, but just as a backup I've got just about any ripper out there, my favourites are:
    Smart Ripper
    DVD Decryptor
    CladDVD

and for fail safe operations, I use Sector Extractor, which rips just about anything and has never had problems copying from the DVD to the HDD.
