  1. managed to post picture at last.

ok the camcorder handle has a built in light but to be honest not that bright. So having a CN-160 LED light I placed that on the handle top front. so that was one issue solved and created another.

Now nowhere to put a microphone if not using the holder.Having got already a Boya BY-SM80 stereo mic and an sennheiser MKE-400 directional I didn't really want to spend out again on another one

Going through my "bits" box I had an extending straight hand grip but one end had a screw stud and the other the female equivalent. So out to the workshop to find a bolt and then cut and grind down to size so the mic faced forward.
Now I can fit a better light and a mic at the same time.

  2. update on sound issue

Update on using sennheiser MKE400 on Panasonic HC-X1500 camcorder. Somewhere else I mentioned this microphone would not work on the camcorder handle as it has a fixed lead to it. Issue solved today as a female to female connector arrived.

So now the XLR cable from the camcorder handle via the connector direct to the microphone lead.
The handle actually cut out the microphone socket on the camcorder so I could not go down that route.

also now keeps the deadcat well away from the sensor The deadcat is by GUTMANN

  3. Now fitted with an Azden SMX-30v microphone. why this particular one? well it has directional and stereo all in it and powered by 2AA batteries.it also can go 30 degrees either way. wind rumble is not tried in a windy condition but placed infront of a desktop fan and very little rumble. Also tried it with a deadcat which only makes a slight difference but not in my opinion worth the money. Best setting I have found so far is at zero (0)DB. +20 db pickes up a low hum and -40db cuts out too much higher frequency

Had to raise it up higher as the XLR cable fouled the camcorder handle
