  1. Hello Mirza here...first post on the forum.

I recently aquired a VCR that looked in a nice working condition and it being pretty early 90ties looking. But on further inspection i can not find the brand of the VCR nowhere or where it is made...opened it up to clean...all i could find is that some components are from South Korea when using google.

Would appreciate if anyone can help solve the small mistery i have here.

A photo of the back might be helpful.
It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly

  8. Could well be but they do not miss plastering Funai at least on the sticker on the back

One possible clue to locating the brand could be the English/German text on the back.

Maybe would also assist if you stated your location.

  10. Yeah that is interesting, as well as a 120/220 AC switch for different power grids. I am in Bosnia and Herzegovina but from what I got from the seller it was brought here from Germany when they moved.

Germany does make sense due to 'PAL' clearly marked and 50 hz on the back

Possibly East German? Pre Soviet collapse? made in retooled toaster factory number 7?

lol. most likely cheap chinese funai. funai made almost all vcr players at their eol. rca, sylvania, sharp, phillips, ge, etc. were all made by funai, along with many others. like this model 5400 that resembles the cheaper one posted here.

    One thing is absolutely certain.

Your VCR is NOT a Samsung. Now Samsung, like many others as stated above, might not have manufactured their own but they, like many others, are 'proud' companies and would have put brand names and named stickers on the case.

The actual model of your VCR is actually shown - SEC 713c whereas Samsung models typically start with 'VB'. It appears to be a 'plain vanilla' case and, as stated, actually manufactured for customisation by the eventual seller who would then have printed manuals and provided support.

^^ Because there are plenty of vcrs etc. that are/were merely rebadged from a basic/common design.

You may be very lucky indeed to find the exact 'name' - even the most obscure made-up name would be plastered over the unit. I was thinking that 'SEC' actually stood for Sansui Electric Company. They made high-end audio and video equipment and some of that was rebadged or made by other manufacturers. But it was already mentioned that the original manufacturer could have been Funai
