This old thread refers to loading the video in VirtualDub to edit it.
To watch it in a media player, you either use a media player which includes all necessary decoders (like those mentioned above) or install a DirectShow decoder filter for the mentioned video format, like LAV Filters, for any general DirectShow supporting media player. -
Start -> All Programs -> ffdshow (or ffdshow64) -> VFW configuration -> Decoder tab ->

You probably also want to do the same for ffdshow's DirectShow decoder:
Start -> All Programs -> ffdshow (or ffdshow64) -> Video Decoder Configuration ->...
