  1. Is there any way to capture 8mm tape recorded in long play on Sony 8mm camera ( which is no more available) on Hitachi 8mm camera that does not have option to read EP tapes. When played back on the Hitachi the tape is played like fast forward. I know that usually that's not possible but is there any "hack" or script after it is captured

No, Unfortunately there is no hack other than a hardware modification of the system control and motor speed which is impossible because it's all programmed into a chip, You will have to buy a SP/EP/LP camcorder for whatever format you have.

Good advice, Do you have any idea how the video would look like when a tape is played in the wrong speed? If that's the case, why capture tapes in real time? Why not just kick it in 2x or even 7x and then slow it down later in software? What an embarrassment.

Here, Download it and show the OP how it's done.

The problem is I cannot find camera locally and the old camera that recorded the tape is no longer functional

Chill with the hostility I know how it looks like when played on a SP camera I don't see where the embarrassment is here

Don't worry I am located in Macedonia I asked couple of guys that sell equipment here and in Kosovo one of them had DCR TVR255E Digital8 but according to Sony doesn't play HI8/8 tapes. We use PAL by the way. Greece Serbia or Bulgaria is close to me If someone from the members here is willing to chime in and ship it thanks
