  1. I've been trying to convert a 24 fps (23.97) DiVX AVI to MPEG-2 (SVCD) using TMPGEnc 2.53, and things are just not working out. Yes, I've looked at the "how tos" and still have the following problems;

    First I split the audio off using VirtualDub, and then imported them into TMPGEnc. I then chose a SVCD template with 29 fps and tried different compression and quality settings (ie. CQ, VBR 2 Pass, etc.) This worked, but I got an output that would slightly hesitate (which I discovered later was probably because I didn't use the SVCDFilm template with the 24 fps setting.)

    So then I tried the SVCDFilm template, and that's when I lost my mind. I tried it with 3:2 pulldown checked AND unchecked (in the advance tab.) I tried it with GOP closed and open. No matter what, I still get the same results... The audio is a second or 2 after the video. What looks like is happening is that the video is plaing at slightly high speed, and the audio is playing normal.

    Can someone help me out? I'm not looking for perfection... just a decent output.

    try this:
    use the NTSCfilm template, but don't check the 3:2 pulldown. the template encodes with pulldown on playback enabled...this should allow the final SVCD to be played in standalone without problems.
    as for audio sync...I'm assuming the source is in sync
    maybe try encoding video only in TMPG, then do audio only(TmPG or BeSweet/GUI) and then mux them either in TMPG, or BBMPG(the advantage for BBMPG is the ability to mux/split by filesize)
    if sound is still out of sync, try remuxing, and playing around with the delay settings in BBMPG.
    hope that helps

  3. I had the same prob a few times. What works best is use tmpgenc/settings/advanced put a check in "source range" now double click "source range" now use "audio gap correct" if your aud is ahead of vid use -numbers and if vid ahead of aud use +numbers Just make small 1-2 minute clips and check adjust til it is perfect. All my svcds are perfectly in synch now
