  2. This is a question with no real answer, only opinions. Also, in my opinion, easiest and best dont usually go together. Anway, unless you say what format you want to convert your DVD rips to before authoring and burning, then no sensible answer can be given!

  3. 'Lo all!!! First of all - great site, greate forum, awesome advices. Thank you guys. I am also a newby in this, just got my first DVD burner (HP200i) and was wondering about:
    1. What is the best software to use for authoring/burning DVDs???
All I want is capture my D8 tapes from sony camcorder, edit them a little and burn them to a DVD, some menues, some pic slide show. I was looking for some input about these:
    Adobe premiere 6
Avid XpressDV (but it seems that it wont run on WinXP. Am I wrong?)
    MGI VideoWave 5
    Roxio Video pack 5
    Sonic DVDit 2.5 pro
    Sonic myDVD 3
    Ulead DVD workshop 1
    Ulead Video studio 6
What do you guys think of them? I would run it on dual PIII, 2gig RAM, SCSI drives, Creative Audigy card with 1394 port (can switch with adaptec one if needed), import video from Sony Digital D8 camcorder, WinXP pro. What was your experience with those? Wich would you recommend?? Any others packages worth looking at that I havent put in this list?

  5. Dadsgsrice, still a little short on info, but I will say this. I use MyDVD 2.3 or DVDitPE 2.5, coz thats what I have. Both are by Sonic and basically the same programme with slightly different features. They are very easy to use and you can get decent results with them with only a little effort. However they are both very limited and offer few features. Full featured DVD authoring programmes tend to be expensive (in the $1000's) and require a much greater learning curve. There are other simple to use authoring proggys available such as those by Ulead, but each has its own problems and limitations. I am sure you can find plenty of opinions on all the consumer level programmes just by searching this forum.

    Hope this helps
