  1. One of the problems I've encountered with Dazzle video creator is the out of sync problem with sound and video. It always start to get out of sync after 15 minutes of capture. Then I found out that my screen saver settings is set to launch after 15 minutes of inactivity. So I figured that maybe it is one of the causes. So I disabled my screensaver, set my power scheme to ALWAYS ON, system standby to NEVER, turn of monitor to NEVER, and turn off harddisks to NEVER. I don't encounter the out of sync problem anymore.

You can change these by going to control panel -> display -> screensaver.

    Hope this helps.

    dtt,

What a refreshing post!! Great job dtt!!

I've often said that MOST ALL of the so called problems that come up with software/hardware can be directly linked to the individual computer user and or a weak link in their computer system.

As you found out by reasonable logical deduction your audio sync problem had absolutely nothing to do with "Dazzle video creator" in was a simple system setting issue.

Most all video capture documentation will tell you that "capturing" video to your computer's hard drive is one of the most demanding tasks you will ever ask your computer to do. Then they recommend BEFORE you capture to do just as you have done along with shutting off every program that is running in the background and system tray eating up CPU power.

    Great post dtt!!

  3. I have recently purchased a Pinnacle video catpure card: Studio VCD.

I tried capturing video into the computer, but I found the Audio & Video are out of Sync. My screensaver have been turned off, and the Audio & video out of sync was from the very beginning of the video captured. I tried with two different videos and they both have the same problem.

I have about 18 gigs in the harddrive I capture the video to at the time. My CPU is a PIII 450, 256 mb ram, and running Window 98 SE. I it was realtime capturing in MPEG 1.

    Please help.

You too? I just bought the ADS USB Instant DVD and I notice that the sync on the first video I capped goes out at 45 minutes into an 80 minute movie. My system is set so that nothing is running in the backround and all programs that would eat up cycles (even the clock) have been disabled. The device is the only USB device in the chain (scanner and card reader are disabled). So why is this happening? If this is going to happen in every cap I do, then it's a problem since I only bought it to cap my old movies that aren't coming out on DVD anytime soon. I'll try again with a shorter video and see what happens. Any info on correcting the out of sync protion thanks in advance...

Forget it guys, the problem isn't always your system it can be the device you are using. I have used just about all types of video capture devices, and I am currenly using ADS Instant DVD.

This Instant DVD device has problems with syncing video and audio mostly because it's very sensitive to dropouts on tapes that the eye can't detect, (this was not mentioned in the advertisement). If you copy a DVD disk you will find it will stay in perfect sync. This device is not good for VHS capture, it is a try 'til you succeed process.

I purchased a TBC (Time Base Corrector) and it helped a lot but still I have problems with audio sync using ADS Instant DVD. I feel if you want to capture VHS tapes wait for another product to come on the market. This one hasn't lived up to its billing yet. I've spent months recording VHS tapes using Instant DVD and have only 5 disks completed for my efforts.

Don't listen to people tellling you that it's a user problem, because it isn't in this case. The companies that create this type of hardware should create better products and test them thoroughly before realeasing them to the public.
