  1. I recently sent off a player to have refurbished and it's been playing without issue until today, where I watched the color change from color to black and white. I tried the playing on both an LCD and CRT and I'm getting the same issue. The tech said that it was recording in b&w, so I had him correct this, and now here we are. Any tips or suggestions?

    Composite.
I think there was a combination of NTSC/PAL/ equipment and tape that could cause something like this but I don't remember the details.
Could this be a factor in your case?

No, the tape is NTSC color and plays without issue in my other player.

I plan to, but the issue is that I had/have to ship the player to him, so it's not a quick drive up and drop off. I wanted to see if there was anything I can do on my end.

Yes, I tried hooking it up to 2 different TVs. It's a Betamax player so no, there's only composite.
