    I currently do not have a dvd drive on my computer and I was wondering is there any way to Rip DVD's for backup with out a dvd drive?

  5. Nope, but a basic DVD drive (DVD player, not a DVD burner) can be had for ~$50 (US$).

  6. I thought DVDx could do that. Perhaps my memory sucks and this is the case. Wears out your dvd-rom drive but it's your money.


    edit: oops...I read this too quickly...I thought the question was rip a dvd without going to the hd. Stupid me

    I think your thinking of programs that rip right off the DVD and encode, instead of ripping the vobs, stopping the drive, then working.
