  1. Have any of you notice that the CRF setting in Recode 3.5.1.3 (using h.264) virtually has no change in the quality of the output file? No matter CRF 16, 23, 10, etc. it is outputting my file in the same bit rate, around 3000 kbits. I don't understand, feels like a bug. The constant quantizer works fine, but not CRF. The file is a very large m2ts.

    Thoughts?

    Check the other settings. You're probably using a preset where the --vbv-maxrate set to about 3000. ie. "capped" CRF

    You can also check the output file with mediainfo (view=>text) to see which settings were passed

    You're exactly right. I found this vbv maxrate setting just about the same time you posted. I just wonder why they would put this as a default. But I think this will solve the issue. Thanks!!
