First I would like to thank everyone on this site. You have helped me imensely on many burning and ripping problems.

Now, I have a ATI all-in-wonder board with input and output options. Everything I read says the output is to a TV instead of your monitor. I want to be able to DV record TV shows and record them to my VHS via the All-in-wonder output options. Is this even possible? If not is there anything out there that will allow me to do this?

    Thanks.

  2. If you want your shows on VHS, why not record them to VHS?

OK, assuming you want to play with them digitally before they land on something as low Q as VHS, then yes you can do this. But if your All in Wonder is Pre-RADEON the results may not be worth it.

If your board is a RADEON based board, then when you are ready to output to tape use the tweaker from rage3d.com to enable overscan, and set your display resolution to 640x480. This will get you very close to what a regular NTSC video feed would look like from the VCRs perspective. No black bars, correct screen dimensions and placement, etc. If you really want to get dead on, you might try using powerstrip to define a 720x480 or a 704x480 display res. (asuming you live in NTSC land).

If you're planning on doing a lot of this, you might want to consider a G550. They are reasonably priced, and the DVD MAX feature on the tv-out makes outputting to tape a snap.

Let me get this straight you have some video on your harddrive and you want to "send" to you vcr. Which all in wonder do you have? Well I guess it really shouldn't matter. should it?

What ever the case I believe you can just hook the vcr up to the out on the card and turn on the tv function. The resolution and such should automatically change to match a tv screen. So if you have a tv attached to the vcr, the image on the tv should look alright, while the image on the monitor will be a bit distorted. Full screen the video and play.......etc... I've only done this with the video player that comes with the mmc as it allows you to fullscreen and hide all controls.

I personally use a Mini DV camcorder for this type of thing but..... it should work. I would try this before you go out and buy stuff. Good luck.
