Hi - I am trying to make a backup copy of the patriot(dvd), using smart ripper, dvd2avi, tmpgenc, and nero, to vcd format. I followed all the steps outlined on another section of this site, and everything appears to work. The video portion is fine, but the audio consists of the proper audio from the movie, along with some producer or something commenting right on top of it. I looked at the files output by dvd2avi, and there is a 1.8gb wav file present. Seems a bit large to me. Am I missing some compression setting or something? Thanks for your assistance.

remember: 4 legs good, 2 legs bad
and: 4 paws in the air gets extra points -
size of .wav file is supposed to be big since .wav format is uncompressed...
as for the extra audio:
1) did you rip the dvd in "movie mode" in smartripper..there might be some multi-angles preset that only "movie mode" can remove
2) which track in dvd2avi did you select...usually stick with default track 1 in dvd2avi...other tracks might contain director's commentary, foreign language, etc..but basically experiment with choosing track till u find the one u want (as mentioned above usually track 1 or 2)
