I am capturing VHS & Beta videos and I am noticing some odd lines occasionally on certain videos from either source, I thought it may be caused by the passthrough of the DMR-ES15 but no, they appear without it too. I am capturing with an HDPVR2 for now but am going to get something else anyway, I did also try the DVD record function of the DMR and the same lines are visible in the DVD, so is this just something that you can't fix?

Look close at the middle left side of the picture, this is straight from the VCR (no passthrough)

It is only noticeable on some videos, and usually hard to notice, but if there is a way to avoid it I'd like to know.
It has been bothering me but if it is just "normal" then I will live with it without losing my mind anymore

Also, could this just be the result of bad VLC deinterlacing? I haven't been able to run the HDPVR2 files through QTGMC so I haven't seen if that fixes it.

Are you capturing these in YUY2 on a YUY2 card? Your sample image reminds me of using a YUY2 card which I then capture to a codec set to YV12 (Lagarith, x264, etc) without a proper interlaced color conversion.

Attach a short, unprocessed video sample so we can ensure it isn't just a playback issue and help to diagnose.

Nevermind, it seems to just be bad real time deinterlacing. I did put a file through QTGMC successfully and no such lines exist anymore.
