  3. OK it sound simple but how about some more details What guide are you using and what exactly did you do with the avi file (in order). If all your using is TMPGenc than that could be your problem! I'll help, but next time give a little more detail.

  7. No i didnt use virtual dub. I am doing what i have always done.

I have recently changed my o/s from ME to XP. Could it be a codec problem?

  8. Have experienced the same problem with some .avi's. In those cases I have stripped the audio from the .avi into a seperate .wav file using either Virtualdub or Goldwave. Then used TMPGENC to encode it to a .mpg with the original .avi as the video source and the newly created .wav as the audio source. The encoded .mpg was perfect. Didn't seem to matter what template (NTSC-SVCD or NTSC-VCD) I used.

  9. Wow TRYINGTOLEARN, Thanks yo just saved me all that typing. What I'm trying to figure out is why he didn't do that. I always do it the same as you and haven't had any problems for the 12+ movies I'Ve done.

  10. I just tried to do that because I am having the same problems and I saved the wav file and it still didnt give sound. The wave file itself has sound but not with the conversion. Can someone tell me the settings they used for it to work.

  11. The .wav extracted from the .avi was saved as 16bit stereo. Used the default NTSC VCD template. Audio settings were: 44100Hz, MPEG-1 Audio LayerII, Stereo Channel Mode, No External Audio Encoders selected under Environmental Setting (Option Menu).

  15. Ok DTWELLS listen to SLACKER1441 He's right. so I guess it's safe
to say it worked for you SLACKER1441 cause that is exactly what I told you!

Before you do it DTWELLS make sure you have divx 5 codec!

If that doesn't work then look at this post someone wrote about divx fix about halfway down the page

  17. I have had similar problems too. First I captured my AVI with Virtualdub. I didnt do anything to seperate the video or audio. I then converted my AVI to MPEG with TMPEGnc to make a VCD. There are five AVI files to this and all of them converted to MPEG fine except file 4. The sound is fine at the start of the file but then at 1:34 the sound goes out. I have tryed converting it a coupled of times and it always stops at 1:34. The sound is fine in the AVI. I cant figure it out. Some of you are talking about seperating the audio and video, how do you do this? Im new so go easy on me.

    Thanks Boxingjunkie
