  1. Hi all

I have a GoVideo4000 and aparently it will only play professional vcds.
Does anyone know the what makes them professional? What's the difference between those and ones burnt in a cd-rw?

    Thanks

  2. Never heard them called professional but I think what it means is original vcds like you buy in malaysia and other asian countries, that's where most original vcds come from.

  3. But what's the difference between those and vcd's i make with my computer?

  4. The difference is that Professional (manufactured/mass produced) VCD's are pressed and not burned which is what we are doing when we create custom VCDs on CD-R media for the home.

There is alot of fustration going around when buying DVD players that also play VCDs, and one of the topics that come out all the time is "Why doesn't my VCD work on my DVD/VCD player"

What worked for me is that if a DVD/VCD player plays CD-Rs (MP3) CDs then it should play my custom VCDs and I haven't had a problem since.

    Hope that help.

  7. i'm a little confused here. is your player a VCD player that will only play commercial VCD's or is it a DVD player..i'm not familiar with the GoVideo4000...who makes it?? and, if its a DVD player that you just got then who told you it will play VCD's and why not just return it??? if you've had it for a while why not just get a new player.. an Apex player can be purchased for about 100 bucks and it plays EVRYTHING............

  8. It's a GoVideo or i think the company might also me called SensoryScience. It's a DVD/VCR combo. I receieved it as a gift last christmas and just got around to popping a VCD in over the weekend. It said on the box that it plays them, so i emailed the company and they said it will only play professional VCD's.

  10. OK, don't worry yet. Before you return it try this. My Sampo plays practically everything, but the family 3 year old sony carousel dvd player won't play any of my home made vcd's. However, I tried CDRW's, even the Comp USA brand and they play fine on it. I have burned them with NERO and now I PREFER AUTHORING and BURNING WITH ULEAD dvd Movie Factory. I get better results with sound on that one. Anyway, I used XTASY 5564 for the capture card. The only complaint I have is the audio is sometimes not synching and the sound a little distorted. Oh well.

  12. Hey vcd4me, I noticed signature at the bottom says "We were all newbies at once". Well why dont you cut some of these people some slack and quit acting like it is a bother to you for someone to ask a question about something that you seem to take for grantite that everyone should know. I noticed you do this in several posts. Either answer the question or let someone else post with a Real answer. Sounds like you are just trying to pad your threads posted number to me.

  13. I'm not an idiot, i read that information before i asked.

I've tried a TDK blue-green dye, a sony 74 min and a TDK cd-rw and none of them would play.

The VCD was burned standard compliant with Nero.
