  1. I am in considering buying a first AIW card but which one should I get? The 128 Pro or the Radeon 7500? My thought is that the Radeon 7500, which will also replaced my so outdated video card(voodoo3 2000). Any opinions, people?

  3. I have just upgraded my 128 pro to a 7500 radeon, and like sulik says much better 3D performance.

Using 3Dmark2001se the 128 pro scored around 1400, the 7500 scored around 4600.

If you want real top notch performance go for the 8500, but it comes at a price.

128 Pro!?!? Where the heck did that come from? I belive the 128 pro is so old, it's more or less unsupported technology by ATi by now. Correct me if I'm wrong. The past Generations of AIW cards were the Radeon series, and I heard they worked great. The 7500 is the best overall in my opinion if you are getting it for it's video capture/recording capabilities. It has very decent 3D performance (very Decent, not top of the line. It should last you a a year and a half, maybe 2 w/ no problems.), but doesn't cost as much as ATi's top of the line card, the 8500DV and 8500 128. It's about half the price (I bought mine yesterday online for $160, and am waiting for it to arrive soon), and resembles a faster version of the last generations Radeon chipsets, but much faster. And I've read that the only video functions it has different then the high-end 8500 models is the lack of firewire ports, and the Digital tuner, which is supposed to cut down in interference, but there has been no proof that it's really that different then the Analog tuner used on the 7500 AIW. Otherwise, it's the same, and pretty much top of the line for it's purpose. I'm gonna use mine as a TiVo card, and make use of the ability to burn to VCDs with the proper hardware.

  5. I hav ethe AIW 7500 as well. I like the capture, however it sucks that an audio setting of 48000 Khz is not an option as required for DVD's. Is there any way to enable that? The highest I have found is 44100.
