  1. Okay. I figured I better post something before I end up taking a gun to my head... :o

I have been pulling my hair out (what little I have left, anyway) trying to figure out how to do this DVD rip to xVCD correctly.

    I'm using:

    SmartRipper 2.41
    DVD2AVI
    TMPEGEnc
    Nero

I am able to rip the vob files of the DVD without problem, then using DVD2AVI, I save my m2v file to use in TMPG. In TMPG, I'm using an xVCD template to save 120 minutes onto a single disc (Kwag's template for those who are aware of it -- 2300 max, 300 min, 128K stereo, CQ=70)

So far, when I do the encode, the playback works fine on my computer, but when I take it to my standalone player (Panasonic RV31), the picture is fine, but the video jerks every 4/5th of a second or so, and the audio is playing back at too slow a speed (I'm a musician, so I can tell the pitch of the sound is too low) I've tried everything I know to do, and have been working on this for two days now.

According to DVD2AVI, it's a 29.97 film. I have tried using that, I've tried forcing film, I've tried 3:2 pulldown in Nero, and I've tried them in about every possible combination. I've also tried different brands of CDRs and CDRWs. Doesn't make a difference

Now, my Player is VCD compatible, but not specifically SVCD or xVCD comptible. However, I have encoded files with max bitrates up to 4000 and minimum BR of 0, and I have gotten them all to work fine.

    Any suggestions?

  2. you should look in the dvd players section on vcdhelp.com and find out which formats your dvd player is compatible with, if it doesn't mention xVCD or SVCD, then u're outta luck

also, it could be your field order (try reversing it)

also, your dvd player may not like the cd-r u're using
