Hi. Wasn't sure where to put this.
So a while back I ordered these imported British DVDs, without knowing about region formatting and such, and thus they didn't work in any of my American dvd players. That was, until I found this old, cheap, player (Electrohome) that somehow would work. Until recently, however, when connected to my TV, after minutes of watching the audio would starts forming into a loud buzz and the original audio would go quiet. Now, there isn't even a buzz, though that could be because I fiddled with the cords (standard yellow white red) a bit, but the video still works. So I go and try to play it on my laptop, which works, but without the audio. Checking the dvd's files, I find that there are no audio files. Which is strange, because further back I thought the audio file had been filled. It all worked at one point. What's going on here? Thanks for any help.

If the player worked before then the player is at fault. But do try a different composite red/white/yellow cable as well. Audio is not a NTSC/PAL issue.
BTW you do not see any audio files on a dvd. The Audio_ts folder is empty. Actually redundant for a normal dvd-video disk. All audio is included in the vob files in the video_ts folder.
