  1. Since yesterday, I started to have issues with Youtube. My videos used to play as full quality and fps, but the fps suddenly went down from 60 fps to 30 fps. I deleted my Youtube channel and recreated it, but the same thing happened. I tried to contact Youtube support, but there's guidance for having a contact with them.

  3. Try another browser and also another computer. Post link to a sample youtube video. Maybe the video is available as 60p, but an update of your browser or whatever broke 60p playback/support.

  4. Have you looked at the video versions that youtube-dl returns? I.e.:
    youtube-dl -F <url of youtube video>

Can you please provide the url of your Youtube Channel?

  5. 1. If you are running Windows XP, YouTube (and most other sites) are either refusing to play the video, or are seriously degrading it.

    2. I have had all sorts of problems getting smoother YouTube video playback on a number of modern devices, but only on certain videos. In particular, some of the videos on my own YouTube channel which have been there for years are no longer playing smoothly.

    3. This might have something to do with HTML5. YouTube switched to that (from Flash) many years ago, but it is not clear whether there is still a mix, and whether that might be causing these playback problems on some videos.

So, I'm pretty sure that YouTube has changed something and their modern programming team has a lot of incompetent programmers who are rapidly breaking things that their more competent predecessors had working just fine.

  6. The 60p videos being cut down to 30p on YouTube is a known issue they're working to fix. I don't even know why this was posted here as this site has nothing to do with YouTube. Better would be to check the YouTube Forum. For example, this thread where Marissa chimes in.

  7. I looked up some 60fps videos and are playing fine here. Post a sample link.

  8. There seems indeed to be a bug. Have a look at the following video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v03-uD3PENw

If you watch the video with Google Chrome, then the 60 fps versions will not be offered in the player.

But if you have a look at the video with youtube-dl, you can see that the 60 fps versions are there:
    youtube-dl -F https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v03-uD3PENw

I get 60fps options for that video in chrome and firefox

  12. Thanks for reply. I have actually deleted and recreated my Youtube channel account which have solved the problem. Another person's channel had a problem too. His one is also fixed as mine got fixed out which is weird.
