Avidemux - converting to xvid .avi bugs the video

I've been using Avidemux to cut a part from any video format and convert it to .avi xvid.
Since I've reinstalled windows and upgraded to windows 10, there seems to be a problem when I do this.
The resulting video has distorted colors and a green and yellow bar at the top as can be seen on the attached picture
Also, it seems that this only happens on videos I've downloaded from youtube with 2 extensions, video downloadhelper and flash video downloader. Tried both, the problem happens with both.
How can I fix this problem? It wasn't present before I reinstalled windows and upgraded to windows 10.

But no real solution applies. However, I'm fine with using an old version. Let's see if it works.
Yep, older version works just fine.
