Hello everyone. I have a Sony A7II that I am using to capture video. I was scrolling through my footage and something stood out in one of several of my clips. Its this band of just barely noticeable luminance. I was inside a home recording. I noticed as I panned up (irrelevant) that there was a horizontal band or two that was going across. I am not sure what my shutter speed or aperture was at the time. Any feedback on why these bands appeared? Thanks

Probably the light in the bathroom turns on and off at a high frequency (LED?) which along with the electronic rolling shutter in your Sony camera, causes dark horizontal bands on the image. With a rolling shutter it captures a single frame by starting at the top and then moving down until it reaches the bottom, the entire frame is not captured at once but over time from top to bottom. Then on top of that the light in the bathroom might actually be turning on and off a few times during that single frame capture, causing these dark bands. I know I have a problem like this with a LED light (probably poorly designed) in my bathroom, but I don't have problems with CFLs or Incandescents.

The bands are staying in place which means you are using a multiple of the correct frequency. Most likely your shutter speed is too high.

Cutting the shutter speed in half will still probably result in a band.

Thank you each for your answers. I believe I was recording at 30fps. My shutter was at the 180 rule - so I had my shutter speed at 60. my aperture was prob at 8 f-stops. So you think that I need to cut my shutter speed some more?
