    Crop can be damaging.
    Overlay is essentially same as mask, cover it with something (black).

    Masking is my person favorite as well....but my short reply was to head off any misconceptions
    by the OP that a ticker was something to just "get rid of" like an unwanted subtitle or language.

    Technically, mask is a crop, but pixels then put back.

    In the past, I've removed tickers, and re-centered the remaining image. What happened was the ticker "blanked" area was then split in half, and fell into the top/bottom overscan. You'd never know it was masked! It's always nice when video works out, transparent editing.
