  1. Hi there, I am new to making VCDS.

I am using VCD easy and have some Mpegs on my pc that I am
    burning to cd.

It seems to work ok, except for one mpeg, it only burns a couple of mins
of it, even though it is 5 mins long.

    - does anyone know why it is not encoding and burning the whole mpeg?
    - what possible reasons would cause this>?

    Thanks for any help.

  2. Can anyone give me any advice as to why on 2 mins of this 5min mpg
    only get burned to VCD?

The mpg in question works perfect when I play it in windows media player.

I have tried burning it twice to VCD and the same thing happens both times, it stops at the exact same point.

I am using Win Dvd to play it, and other mpgs are fine.

I just want to know is there anything I can do to fix this?

There is probably an error (atleast according to VCDEasy) in your MPEG at the 2 minute mark. A software player like WinDVD should be able to play almost anything, errors or not, so its not a real good indication of its standard-adherence.

Adding the MPEG to a compilation on the main menu will cause VCDEasy to truncate the file and only burn the portion of it it can read successfully. That's probably why you are losing the last 3 minutes.

    To check it:
In VCDEasy, goto TOOLS (on the left-side) and goto MPEG SCAN (across the top) and load your problematic mpeg and "Analyse" it. Check the "Warnings" box when its done, and it will probably give you some errors, and the Info box will probably state the length of the mpeg as 120 seconds (give or take).

You could try using NERO to burn it as it may miss the errors, but the final product probably won't play proplerly in your DVD player.

As for fixing it, that all depends on your process of creating it. I've found that when I get errors like that, re-encoding the mpg again (start over basically) usually clears it up.
