  1. I am using SmartRipper and DVD2AVI with TEMPGEnc to get pretty good quality SVCD's, I recently tried to make a SVCD with the Jet Li movie called "The One" which has both 16:9 and full screen versions on the DVD, but when I rip it I automatically get the 16:9 version. How do I rip the full screen version? can anyone help me with this?

I think you have to rip ALL the vobs, then keep trying them.

    Maybe try Flask MPEG

  3. I do rip all of the VOB's, what do you mean try all of them? are you suggesting that when I select a VOB in TEMPGEnc that i can select a different one other than the #1 VOB? I thought I had to use the first one for some reason?

  4. Ok here is what the file looks like when I have ripped with SmartRipper :
vts_01.d2v or (The_One.d2v if I have named the file when ripping it) this is the only file that I can select when going into TEMPGEnc and selecting the video file and of course the audio file is: The_One AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps 44.1KHz.wav so I cannot select a different file (VOB?) to encode, so again my question is how do I rip the correct file for the full screen version ?

  5. You don't have a dual-sided disc, I'm assuming? If so, you probably just need to flip it over...

Otherwise, the different versions are stored as different titles on the DVD. Select the other title that is long enough to be the movie.

  6. blah, if it was a double sided disc with the fullscreen on one side and widescreen on the other, there shouldn't be a problem

here's wut i do when both fullscreen and widescreen are on same side of discs

smartripper will automatically pick one set of the movie vobs (randomly, don't trust the info that smartripper says about the aspect ratio)

rip a small amout of it (really small)...and load it into dvd2avi, preview it (f5) to get the info box where it indicates the source aspect ratio...usually, 16:9 is widescreen version and 4:3 is fullscreen version...

if that set of vobs are the wrong aspect ratio u want, then open up smartripper again, then rather than going with wut smartripper automatically chooses, choose another vob set that has around the same filesize as the first one
