  1. Hi there,
I have here an AVI file of which the audio is bad when you play the AVI with WMP or Real Player. The sound is trembling and not clear.
When I play it with Global Divx the audio is fine. Not a big problem you would say but ..
When I try to encode the AVI to mpeg with TMPGenc the audio sounds in all 3 players is bad.
I tried to save the audio as wav file with Virtualdub and encode this wav file seperately.
    But without luck.
I also tried to convert this wav file to MP2 with Besweet, but again without succes.
Does any of you has a suggestion to solve this.
    Thanks,
    André

  2. Hi

I myself had a similar problem tonight.

Could the problem be, that your source is in 48 kHz? When you downsample it in virtualdub (save the wav-file) remember to choose Full Processing - Conversion - 44100 Hz. And remember to choose High Quality.

    Does that help?

You can check the audio just by playing the wav-file with Media Player. No need to encode.

    Cheers,
    Raunso

you would probably be better off using besweet gui to downsample and encode the auido(after extracting the wav with vdub)

  4. Why is besweet better?

And by encode, do you mean that I should downsample the audio and then encode it to mpeg layer 2 in besweet before joining it all together in TmpgEnc?

BeSweet GUI is very easy to use, and incorporates some of the better tools(e.g. SSRC for downsampling, 2lame for encoding)--it gives very good resulting audio files

  6. Raunso,

Thanks for your reaction. The wav is indeed 48000Hz. When I however
follow you sugestion to adjust to 44100Hz and High Quality the following error message appears in Vdub when I try to save the file as wav file:
"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format.
Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format".

What to do to solve this?

    Thanks,

    André

  7. Hi again

Hmm.... strange. I haven't encountered that error before. I don't really have any solutions except that you make sure that you have the newest codecs, in this case it must be an MP3-codec (it usually is). You can get the Nimo codec pack somewhere on the site (Tools).

And just to be sure: You haven't made any other adjustments in virtualdub (e.g. chosen Stereo when source is in mono)? Only the 44100 Hz and High Quality?

    Good luck

  8. Raunso,

I tried eveything you mentioned. I already had the Nimo pack.

So up till now, nobody has a solution.

In any case Raunso, thanks for your reaction.
