Hey everyone.

I am not a video professional, but more of an enthusiasts. I am currently looking for suggestions on what I should look into getting for a 4k camera.

First, I have about 13 years of video editing experience. I do small to mid sized projects. I purchased my first pro style camera a little over a year ago and went with the Sony NX100 full HD camera. In a perfect would, I would get it's 4k counterpart; the PXW-Z150 4K, but if I am going to make a purchase in the next couple months like I want to, that isn't going to fit my budget. I'd be looking at divorce papers for sure lol.

First off, I am aware that different cameras use different codecs and color spacing. I would like a more professional setup then say that of the FDR AX100. I don't need broadcast quality, as the work I mostly do is family events, live music, and interview/documentary style recordings. I don't plan on getting rid of my NX 100, but I would like a second camera to go along with it for multi angle shots and what not. And I figure now might be a good time to jump to 4k.

I have a solid custom computer I have built, so I am sure I am 4k ready for the most part as far as editing goes. My main monitor is not 4k yet, but I do have a 4k display to check my edits on. My main monitor is a ultra wide display. Here is my current setup via PC Parts Picker:

When talking to a rep at B&H photo today, it was suggested to me to go with a Sony PXW-X70 to go along with my Nx100. I am looking at options for that camera now. I see that I can buy a used one for under $1800.00, and if I wanted to upgrade the firmware for 4k recording, I can do that.

Right now, the PXW-X70 is the only one I have really looked into. I have been using mostly Sony cameras over the years, with the exception of the Canon HV30 which I used between 2008 and 2012. I like the Sony cameras over all, and they go well with my Vegas editing (although I know Sony sold Vegas and Vegas Pro 14 isn't under the Sony Banner). Vegas is the editor I know, so that's what I use.

Does anyone have any suggestions or guide lines for me? My current budget for this new camera would be between $1500.00 and $1800.00 max if I am to get it in the next couple months like I would like too. But I am not sure if I should wait and go with a different model or not. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
