problem playing Angel Season2 DVD's in Singer SGD-001

It wont play the audio of english, whether this be the sound of the episode or the commentary... however it will play the french...

The Angel S2 dvd is Region4

Anyone know what may be causing this or how to fix it,

Have never had problems like this before with the player.
My dvd player is a Singer SGD-001.

(it will play picture but no sound if english audio is on, will play french)
