When copying a dvd to the hard drive, the result is , instead of an ISO file, as I would normally expect, a file with extension 6 or 16. So far I have been able to use this file for editing with DVD Shrink (but only if I change the extension to .ISO) or burning with DVD Decrypter. What has caused this? This has only just started and the F-Secure A/V reports nothing untoward and everything up to date.

What are you using to put the DVD on the hard drive as an ISO? If you really want an ISO, you could try ImgBurn->Create image file from disc.
