  1. I just spent the last 3-4 hours searching this forum and the doom9 forum for this and found lots of things to try, none of them solved my problem. I'm wondering if the problem lies in the fact that the SVCD's I'm working with were not encoded by me. I downloaded the Band of Brother's SVCD's done by Muffle. When you unrar the files (they are in .mpg form). I pull them into VCDEasy and burn them. Around the 7th one, I noticed that I could add chapters. I've read the guides and feel like I have tried everything (at least, as far as I know). But I haven't created a chapter yet. I'm just trying to create 10 equidistant chapters. Is that possible to do since I didn't author these?

Thanks. I hope this hasn't been answered and if it has, I'm sorry.

  2. So you've tried the option in VCDEasy to create equidistant chapters (using entry points) and it's not working? Is it giving you an error message? If you want to understand more about chaptering, go here: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd/chapters.html

  3. Yeah, I tried the create equidistant chapter options, hit OK, it shows equidistant chapters on the right hand screen. Then I click go and I never see an error! That's the thing. One of the things I noticed earlier while searching was a remark that Sefy had made about the stream. I didn't create this stream, but here is the technical data:

    TECHNICAL DATA:

    Source: Digital satellite broadcast
    Resolution: 480 x 360 NTSC (letterboxed 480 x 480)
    Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (widescreen)
Frame Rate: 23.976 per second (29.97fps NTSC with 3:2 pulldown)
    Video Codec: TMPGEnc MPEG-2
Video Bitrate: 0-2500 Kb/s (variable bitrate, constant quality at 58)
Audio Codec: TMPGEnc MPEG-1 Layer II (Dolby Digital 2.0 surround)
Audio Bitrate: 224 Kb/s (constant bitrate)

I read that entry points chapter earlier and now I'm thinking that when it was created, it wasn't created with that GOP/sequence header stuff. I pulled it into TMPGENC becuase the mpeg sequencer doesn't like the mpg that I pulled in and maybe that will make a difference. But I won't know for 4 more hours!

  4. Don't remember about equidistant chapters, but I can custon make chapter points in VCD Easy. I just type in the times and hit 'add' (or is it 'ok'?). Do you have the latest version? I remember it did not use to work for me, but it works now.

  5. Hey! I've decided that equidistant chapters don't work, but the custom ones do. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. It worked and now i have about 10 chapters in there. Or at least points that I can quickly move to. Super!

  6. Wow. I did not realize that one worked and not the other. For some reason, I did not even consider that possibility. Glad we worked out a solution.

  7. I wouldn't have tried putting in chapters at point a, b, and c without your suggestion. I wonder if anyone else has that problem? Maybe it's a bug in that version? Thanks for all the responses! :D

  8. That's very strange. I just burned a short video with equidistant chapters on a CD-RW and it work fine. I'm using VCDEasy 1.0.9. So there doesn't appear to be a bug unless it's specific to SVCD (my video was VCD).

  9. It must be the SVCD then becuase I tried equidistant chapters 4 times and not one of the CD's worked, but when I added them at certain points, they worked. go figure.
