Hi,
My Sony camcorder produces .m2ts files. I was moving videos files from one external HD to another, and I accidentally cut and pasted instead of copy and pasting.
As luck would have it, something hiccuped along the way, and the transfer paused on one file for some reason. I tried to resume the transfer, but something must have happened.
When I look at the file in Windows Explorer, all seems file. I can see a thumbnail of the video, the size and length is listed, etc. But when I try to pay it, it pauses after 3 seconds or so and hangs.
I tried to make a copy of it to experiment, and the copy won't even play for 3 seconds (and doesn't show the length of the video in Windows Explorer).
Amy I SOL? If not, is the solution trying to repair the video file, or is the solution to fix presumably broken sectors "around the file". I am able to COPY the corrupted file onto a different drive (though it won't play either), but I cannot CUT and move the file elsewhere.
Any help would be appreciated. And if this is the wrong forum, please let me know where I should post this. Thanks.
