  1. Ive gone from mpc hc to kmplayer wich a few of the other big names and there windows 10 store editions wich does have a simplistic flair but Im progressing into a power user regarding my movies of wich looks come second .

Km player givs alot of option and through global hotkeys I get around decent om my windows touchscreen without keyboard or mouse.
Now I have stumbled on hot global keyboard a soft keyboard with many keyboard layouts and the possibility to build one yourself.

Making a keyboard dedicated for video would totally remove the touchscreen handicap microsoft has not fixed since windows 8!

(there is also the freeze that lock user input that occurs frequent but luckily there is no video stutter)

So I ask if there is an video player that allows command line input besides global hotkeys so that I could make a fully translucent touchscreen *softkeyboard overlay as hot global keyboard allows translucentsy and wide variety of actions stored into a keyboard overlay*.

Something I recommend to any windows touchscreen user since microsoft just wont solve the user input handicaps.
That or switch to android desktop os like Remixos but for me I loose power options (video coding) and diskspace...

Codec hotswitching and presets there off
Cross video scenecuts (shuffled) playback presets

Features I would like in my video showcasing .

Is there more /better then ffdshow with command line for processing (overlay) videos.
Being able to skin a gui is also apreciated.

Have you tried PotPlayer? You can customize all commands...but I'm not sure if you can add command lines inputs though.

Yes. POTPLAYER. As is mentioned by Baldrick.
I belive you can use Touch feature to control everything. Preference -> Misc -> Touch feature And configure it in General -> Touch.

    Command line

    Usage : PotPlayer[Mini].exe "filename" [options]

    /filedlg : Open file dialog
    /urldlg : Open url dialog
    /folderdlg : Open folder dialog
    /simple : Open file navigator
    /cap : Open screen capture
    /cam : Open webcam/Other devices
    /atv[:ch] : Open Analog TV
    /dtv[:ch[-index]] : Open Digital TV
    /dvd : Open DVD
    /cd[:drive] : Open a cd drive
/add : Add to last position in playlist
/insert : Add to position which follows the current playing file in playlist
/autoplay : Play the last played file
    /same : Play all items
    /sort : Sort by name
    /randomize : Sort randomly
config="preset name" : Use the specified preset

I thought that MPlayer has lots of Commands but not.

  4. Potplayer isnt lightweighted but feature rich.
Ile give it a try anyway.

Loading gigs into kmplayer also gives a slow startup.
Mpc hc is the lightest of them all but lack librairy support.
It will only shuffle the sequence they are listen in windows explorer.
For me I have multiple folders so mpc hc is ruled out.

Mplayer is for linux btw. You mean smplayer, although smplayer is an gui for the mplayer its coded onto in case of the windows platform.

"They are two different applications that work together. SMPlayer actually is not a media player... MPlayer is. MPlayer is a command-line application, it doesn't have menus or buttons. It is controlled by the keyboard. As this is not very user friendly, several graphical interfaces have been developed, and SMPlayer is one of them. So MPlayer is the playback engine, SMPlayer adds the buttons, menus, dialogs, and so on. The Windows packages already include a MPlayer build along with SMPlayer."

    Q. What's the difference between SMPlayer and MPlayer?

I also saw over at handbrake ,they uploaded a dll file for 12 bit hevc.
Only works with nightly handbrake and not for 32bit windows on a memory error.
Along with ffdshow wich can also do 12bit hevc both en- and decoding.

  6. Copied from videohelp:

"MPlayer is a movie player for LINUX (runs on many other Unices, and non-x86 CPUs, like Windows, MAC...). It plays most DVD, VCD, MPEG, VOB, AVI, OGG/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV, QT/MOV/MP4, FLI, RM, NuppelVideo, YUV4MPEG, FILM, RoQ, PVA files. Mencoder is a converter that supports many input video formats. Command line tools but several frontend/GUIs available like SMPlayer available. Mencoder is included in most mplayer.zip/7z releases."

Mplayer might make the best candidate as it closer to mpc hc configuration.
Im on a simple device and try to preserve batterylife.

No gui and dedicated video playback beats potplayer anyday.

  8. I has come to my attention mplayer uses an opengl driver instead d3d.
Opengl is more efficient and better quality.
Mplayer simply is the best video player.

Neither potplayer or kmplayer has the feature. Non other has the feature unless an mplayer fork itself.
Mpc is a microsoft invention integrated into windows that cant compete on mplayer level.
A bit unatractive but ile use a gui and learn the CLI until im fluid.

FYI FFdshow is also an microsoft product, one that get little competition?

Nothing is easier than change videorenderer to opengl. Video->videorenderer->opegl. You neednt restart potplayer, it changes automatically. You can choose out of 12 renderer in Potplayer, not counted renderers for debuging (2) And default isnt D3D but EVR custom present.

The most customizable movie players I have encountered are:

    PotPlayer

    Zoom Player

lots of global hotkeys, plugins for EventGhost, and some SendMessage/TCP command support.

Skin creation has a learning curve for both, but it's not impossible. Just a bit of a hassle to get started, especilaly with PotPlayer that has zero official documentation on skin creation. There's a thread somewhere on videohelp about creating skins for PP tho.

Good luck! I know finding the perfect video player for oneself can be a bitch
