  1. I set my pc's input language to Spanish and was able to type special Spanish characters (accents, etc...)in MS Word, and successfully imported the text file - accents & all - into Subtitle Edit 3.5. But now I'm unable to type accents in Subtitle Edit when revising the text. Is there a way to do this?

Are you using Encoding: Unicode UTF-8 (top right in Subtitle Edit)?

Or try change Encoding to 1250: Central Europan.

MS Office key sequences don't necessarily work in other software. With the Spanish keyboard selected, press single-quote (apostrophe), then a vowel key for acute accent. Press double-quote, then a vowel key for diaeresis. Press semicolon for enye.

  4. Thanks for the suggestions. but they didn't seem to work. It may not be possible. For now, I have Word opened alongside the SE window, type it in Word, & copy/paste it into SE. Kind of a hassle but special characters are more crucial in Spanish than alot of languages - leave out just one accent, and you may have said something entirely different than you intended.

The Spanish-Spain (International Sort) keyboard works for me in Windows 7 Pro SP 1 and Subtitle Edit 3.4.11. I can easily enter accented characters.
