    Hi,
No good trying out all those suggested in sticky thread dated 2010 as YouTube have moved on to try and outwit. I purchased ADP for DownloadHelper Firefox in Jan2016 and its already useless, plus the standard download helper is also dead, despite prog removal and reinstall, and the developer hasnt an answer to either at the moment. Says YouTube are one step ahead. YoutubeDownloadHD though is one step ahead of him so I guess thats my money wasted.
It was great when it worked, if a video is playing and I decide I want it I simply clicked on the rotating coloured balls and selected one of the displayed resolution options.
I want something simple as that if possible.
I have YouTubeDownloaderHD which requires the address pasting in but then at least works, but only for youtube sites.

What is there that is working right now Apr 2016 on hires streams and others on any website that either sees this simple paste address then hit download, or that appears as a selectable choice of resolutions list ? Must be for all other websites that might feature streaming video. I dont want it designed for specific sites. mp4 to be the resulting file, I dont want the hassle of having then to convert the download.
Free if possible given my recent experience.

    Hi DBenz,
the only working (I mean: working) solution to your problem (unfortunately it's not free, but at least it IS working on 99,9% sites that I've visited) is Internet Download Manager. You won't find anything simpler than that. Given your experience you may use it for 30 days free of charge to see if it meets your expectations.
    Cheers,
    Stefan
