When I capture fron VHS at 720x 480 and then want CCE to do half horizontal it just goes to 704x480, is their a way to get CCE to go from 704 or 720 to 352x480? I'm trying the newest CCE 2.66 trial. Also PowerDVD doesn't want to open any Mpv. files created by CCE but windows opens them all.

    Thanks

  2. Get a copy of avisynth & install

    www.videotools.net

open notepad and paste the following (the red text only)

    AVISource("C:\mymovie\mymovie.avi")
    TemporalSmoother(2,1)
    BicubicResize(352,480,0.00,0.60)
    ResampleAudio(44100)

    edit path/folders/moviename to suit

select save as mymove.avs (as a ansi or dos file -> not a .txt file)

    drag'n' drop mymovie.avs into CCE.

If I'm using CCE just to do video do I leave out the reference to resample audio? Plus this is for DVD so for me it would be 48? If I need to leave the audio reference in
    Thanks

  4. the ResampleAudio(44100) is just a hangover to fix
problems CCE 2.50 had when processing just video. It would
sometimes give errors if audio was not included, even if
    turned off within CCE.

    Ignore it. Delete it.

Well I downloded avisynth, I don't want to be a Pia but can you get more specific. I installed avisynth and created the avs file but CCE is still encoding to 704 instead of 352. When you say drag and drop in CCE do you mean use the avs file to open CCE or put it in the CCE folder where it's installed? Also in installing avisynth there is three options for install, do I need just to install "just link" also or just avisynth? I do not see a gui for anything but CCE.
    Thanks again

Well I got it to work, now CCE will re-size any file down to 352x480 but SruceUp will not accept the file generated by CCE, error notice "Illegal picture resolution for DVD video"
So this is my last hurdle for me to be able to say tht CCE works for me, in all honesty Tmpeg worked right from the start and SruceUp took all files generated by Tmpeg, well now to figure out this one.

    Thanks much

That's curious. I've used SpruceUp with a half D1 resolution (352x480) before without any problems. I don't know what version I'm using. I do know it supports any of the valid DVD resolutions though. Are you still working on this, and do you want me to get my version number for you?

I got SpruceUp working. Do not know how though, it now takes all files created by CCE. I'm using v1.00.1061.

I always resize my movie before encoding. I ran across the DVD Compliant switch by accident, when trying to encode a 352x480 DVD. It resized to full D1, and SpruceUp opened the movie without an issue. I was actually a little supprised at the quality of the resize. I may do a little experimenting later to see how it handles an on-the-fly resize of an imported AVI (something like 640x272). I'd be curious to see if I get better results, than using AVSynth, or VirtualDub resize filters.
