Sorry if it is a dumb question but I have used mkvmerger and muxed video and subtitle file to play on my Sony blu ray player(you know why I have to mux.. that's Sony) .. but issue here is I am not able to fast forward my file and if I try to do that video stops. I googled it but unable to find proper solution. Please guide me.

Did that occur without the subtitle ? (did it play and seek normally without the subtitle?) ; Or is the video the underlying problem, an incompatibility with your player ?

In mkvtoolnix GUI's go settings->merge->default values and add the following into "Default additional command line options":
--engage no_cue_duration and --engage no_cue_relative_position --clusters-in-meta-seek
After that open your file again and remux. Then test fast-forward again.

Post the complete command-line you are trying to use. Don't forget to use quotes for file names that have spaces.
