When I use TMPGEnc to extract Divx video into MPEG2 using the DVD(NTSC) template... modified to extract video only... I get a message fom DVDit that the MPEG2 to is valid, but is not identifiable as NTSC or PAL.

What am I doing wrong in TMPGEnc?

  2. Are you using DvdIt PE V2.5. If so try the following:
in TmpGenc, load the DVD(NTSC) template. Then load unlock.mcf from the extras folder. Click the settings button. On the advanced tab ensure that 3:2 pulldown is NOT checked. On the GOP structure tab set Number of P picture in GOP to 4, not 5 as is set by the template. Click OK. Under Stream type select the video only button. Hit start and wait. When the encode is complete use pulldown.exe to apply the 3:2 pulldown flags if required. (if your divx is 23.97 fps you will need to do this, if it is 29.97 fps you can skip this bit). Dvdit should now accept your video. You will need to supply the audio seperatley. I suggets extracting from the Divx with virtualdub, convert to PCM (uncompressed) 48Khz and save as a wav file. Use this to provide the audio track to DVDit. This may also work with versions of DvdIt other than PE 2.5. Let me know how you get on.

P.S. If you load the video file in TmpGen cAFTER the template, it screws up many of the settings, always select your video/audio source BEFORE applying the template.

I will try the process you descirbed. Do you think it would be okay for me to change from VBR to CBR and set a specific bitrate. Using a bitrate calculator, I am reducing the bitrate so it will fit on one DVD+RW.
