  1. I want to multi region my _Pioneer 444.
I came accross this fot the DV 505 ,will it work on my Pioneer 444.Or is there another way of saving me sending it away>>>

""The Pioneer DV505 & DVL909 contain built in facilities to allow the region code to be selected as part of the set up process. This is disabled on the machines sold on the high street however it can be re-enabled by joining two contacts on a circuit board as detailed below.

Unplug the player, and remove the cover, there are screws on the back and at the sides.

Place the machine in front of you with the facia pointed towards you. To the right there is a circuit board which controls the machine.

Remove the screws from each of the corners of this board. If there is a metal plate screening the board, remove this by unhooking the clip at the right hand side. Then take the board out of the machine.

Find the EEROM chip. This should be in a socket near the corner of the circuit board, and will probably have a sticky label on it showing the version number. Next to one corner of this there are three solder connections marked CN703. Position the board so that these connectors are to the left hand side.

Make a connection between the left and middle of the three connections. This can be done by bridging them with a piece of solder.

    Reassemble the machine.

To change the code of the machine, switch it on without a disc. Then press MENU on the remote. Select INITIAL by pressing '1'. Press DISPLAY to show which Region the machine is currently set up for. Press CONDITION followed by '1' on the handset (or '2' for region 2) to select the new region. Press MENU to confirm."""

  2. Gee... is it that simple?

I hope that you will tell us if it works. I have a 444 myself but this sounds to good to be true :-)
